TecQuipment Photovoltaic Cells
The Photovoltaic Cells apparatus demonstrates the principles and performance of a solar cell array and battery storage system. It features a high-efficiency solar panel mounted on a mobile, wheeled frame with an adjustable angle for optimal sunlight exposure. A solarimeter measures incident radiation while the panel recharges either of two batteries via a charge controller that ensures correct charging without damage. Students can examine charge and discharge cycles using the high-performance deep cycling battery and a second lower-rated battery. A control module displays panel and battery performance, indicates charge controller modes, and provides two power outputs for experiments. A variable resistive load, an inverter, and four switchable lamps illustrate practical applications. VDAS® is compatible with real-time data capture.
