TecQuipment Hydro-Electric Turbine
The Hydro-Electric Turbine is a self-contained, floor-standing apparatus designed for hands-on training in hydro power. It integrates a water tank, pump, propeller turbine, generator, sensors, and control panel in one compact unit. Students can investigate the operating performance of various propeller shapes and execute energy audits to explore how the complete system interacts. Water flow is controlled by a diaphragm valve and measured as it passes through a pressure sensor and a flowmeter. VDAS® Onboard collects data from flow, pressure, and generator output, allowing for power calculations, speed, and overall efficiency. The unit includes five standard propellers, plus provided instructions for designing and 3D-printing customized propellers for extended experimentation.
