TecQuipment Cam Analysis Machine
The Cam Analysis Machine is a bench-mounted apparatus designed to study the behavior of cams and followers, showing how rotary motion converts to linear motion and highlighting the onset of follower bounce. It features a precision machined steel base supporting a high-torque, variable-speed direct-drive motor connected to the cam test area via a coupled main shaft with self-aligning bearings and a substantial flywheel to reduce speed fluctuations. Students can test a range of cams, followers, and compression springs, adjusting mass and preload to explore dynamic behavior. Sensors track cam angular position and follower displacement, and the system interfaces with VDAS Onboard for real-time data, including displacement, velocity, and acceleration.
