TecQuipment Flow Measurement Methods
The Flow Measurement Methods apparatus allows students to explore fundamental ways to measure the flow of incompressible fluids and shows ways to apply Bernoulli’s equation practically. Taking water as the working fluid, students study the flow behavior of a Venturi meter, an orifice plate meter, and a rotameter. Students are also able to compare the head losses of each of the devices, as well as the losses due to sudden enlargement and a 90° elbow. The apparatus is designed to be used with a hydraulic bench, where the horizontal pipework is set, to provide adjustable flow control. Students gain an understanding of the differences in performance, practical applications, and the limitations of each flow measurement mechanism by comparing the measured values to the theoretical values.
